Jean Jims obituary
1945-2025
Kennett Square, PA
Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 19, 2025.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Louise Todd Jims, who passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, at the age of 79.

Born in West Chester, PA, on December 29, 1945, to Randall and Louise Todd, Jean was a devoted mother, and grandmother.

She was a strong and resilient woman overcoming many adversities with courage and grace. Her response to losing her hearing suddenly as an adult was to submerse herself into the Deaf community by transferring her night school credits earned at Goldey Beacom College to Gallaudet University, an all deaf college in Washington DC, graduating with a degree Summa Cum Laude. Another impressive response to adversity was where, after an auto accident caused severe leg injuries and her doctor questioned her ability to walk extensively ever again, she, for decades thereafter, would enjoy walks at Longwood Gardens and mow her own lawn while ambulating with a cane. Her biggest joy was cooking for and hosting visiting family, or traveling to visit family.

Jean is survived by her children, Joseph (Elda), John (Alicia) and Jenna (Angelo) Rodriguez; daughter in law Elizabeth, and her grandchildren, John Jr.("Jay"), Edward ("Eddie"), Ingrid ("Nova") and Ian.

A celebration of Jean's life will be held on May 4th at 1pm at the Kennett Senior Center in Kennett Square, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Treetops Kitty Cafe, Kennett Square PA
